Time works very strange in the mission. It feels like forever, but looking back I
would not believe that tomorrow I’ve been out for 2 months!! Crazy I know. Also
if there is anything you want to see or hear about tell me!! And ill let you
know the best I can. Just an FYI I have
the opportunity to receive mail once a month at zone meetings... so yup
Alright so Lunes (Monday): after I wrote you last week we had to run
to catch a collective. At the later
hours of the day they get supper packed! This one was very full and for the
first 5 minutes I had to ride standing up in the stair well with my backpack
hanging out the door. It was kinda scary
but mainly liberating and a great feeling.
I felt so free it was awesome--- haha don’t worry mom, I was safe-ish.
We taught familia Urquart tonight to ( that’s how you say the urquart family in
spanish). They have a lot of boys ages 15-23 and we need them to be active so
bad! We need members to teach with
because when members testify there is so much more power... I really want them
active.. yup
Mièrcoles: This morning we got a phone call from a ward member at
6:15, we slept until 6:30 and then went running to her house for our exercise
because our phone ran out of minutes right after my comp answered and we
couldn’t talk to her. She’s Hermana gala
the lady whose daughter had a seizure. I’m a little out of running shape, but
am in better shape then my companion i think haha. She just wanted to make sure
that she was cooking us lunch today so we said yes and then headed back home.
It was funny haha. Then our shower didn’t have water, not as funny, haha so I
didn’t get to shower today! That was unfortunate for everyone involved ;) it
was super hot today, like probably near 100 degrees, and humid and we walked
what felt like just about everywhere. I
did buy a 1.5 liter thing of guaranà during the day and it was delish. I
probably need to lay off that.. Let me know if i look fat in any of my pictures
please... I don’t know if I get all of tanners letters. I got the last one that mom sent as an
attachment but if you can make sure I hear from him and whoever else wants to
write me that’d be cool.
Jueves: Today the water in the shower was freezing and worked for
about 35 seconds so basically, no shower again, woooooo!!! We had zone
conference today with president which meant we go into town and we have to wear
our suits. It was soooo hot… holey moley. But Zone conference was really good. President
talked about how we are part of the gathering of Israel, which is always cool
to think about. He did say that our zone is the worst in the mission. That was
really shocking to hear, but I have never been so motivated in such little
words. It’s been in my head ever since he said it. We also had a ton of police
in the town today as there was another political march, but all seems well...
we did teach one investigator and he kept asking questions and we kept giving
answers... we almost taught him a piece of every single lesson hahah. It was
crazy… all starting with the word of wisdom. Got empanadas again today and got
2 alfahors cause it was just one of those days... i love alfahors!!!
Viernes: No shower again!!!! Its becoming a little frustrating that
a shower is such a guess in the mornings but oh well, it just means I stay warm
all morning haha. Last night in my head I decided that to fix the problem of
our worst zone. I’m shooting for 10 baptisms in October.. Which I think can
happen, its just gonna be super tough. Pray for me, if not October then 10
between October and November and id be happy too. I shared it with my companion
and he is on board too... so know we will just wait and see what happens. Supppper
hot again today. Its only spring too, like man this weather is cray cray. I
decided that I want a jersey of all the clubs they are about 15 bucks each for
fakes and so I think that’s the plan... if I had to choose one I think it would
be Cerro because they are huge in Remansito!! We had to go into town because my
comp got to conduct a baptism interview so that was good. Then we came back and
I talked to like 8 different kids two separate occasions and actually felt like
I fit in a little, and like I could understand. It was so comforting and awesome!! We also
organized our area more… broke it into another sector so we can work more
effectively. Hopefully it will help us
reach our goal.
Sabado: today during personal study I found out the binding of my Spanish
book of Mormon is broken!!! I bought super glue today (pday) for it to fix it
but its sad because I’ve written so much in it and I love that little guy and
its new. I did fix a kids bike chain in the streets today. I don’t know how
long it will last as the kid was happy enough with just rolling around by
pushing of with his feet cause when I turned the bike back over, and he hoped
on it sound like it wouldn’t last long, but he was very happy that he could
pedal for the time being. We taught 7 lessons today. That’s a lot and it was draining. I was so
tired, but during the night there was some huge music party so that was nice to
get to listen to while I prepared for bed. I did have one of the most delish
fruit salads ever today and realized this week that my recipe for the rice
salad was wrong. Its not butter in the
salad, its mayonaise. 250 cm cubed of mayo... so try it if you want but don’t
waste rice either ;) the fruit salad was pears, apples, bananas, and orange
juice, and was cold, and they serve it in just little personal size dishes but
it was so good!!! Oh I also watched Gustavo ( single 26 year old convert of 8
months who is inactive right now and might smoke a little still, but is pretty
good looking McKenzie just in case you want a Paraguayan) cut his lawn with a machete.
it was awesome... I’ve heard there are
many projects that I’ll do with a machete but haven’t had to do any yet.
Domingo: KELBYS BIRTHDAY!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO went to church today. Oh
last night it rained pretty good. Church
starts at 8 but by 7:30
there was no more rain and my comp and me were the only
ones in priesthood so we read scriptures. I have my little book of
mormon I got
from the encampment from the stake with me at all times. I’m so grateful
for it
tell them thank you!! I use it every now and then when I can’t remember
where
scripture exactly is at and I read from it Sunday. There were only 22
people in
church and as a result my comp and me had to help with the sacrament.
Here it
takes two to bless and two to pass. He blessed, I passed and there were
two
other people that came that could help too. We are missing a cable for
the
piano and president doesn’t want to buy one until the one girl who
really wants
to learn moves out of her boyfriends home. She is young womens
secretary, is
16, her boyfriend is a member too, but law of chastity is a huge problem
here. As it is everywhere I guess. It’s sad because she’s
active and understands all of the gospel except that part. I came home
from
church and celebrated Kelby’s birthday… that was delish, and then we
went out
teaching. We were blessed with new investigators and we have so many
right now
its makes our goal for 10 more realistic but we will see. Also we got
hamburgers tonight!! A lady in the ward invited us over for dinner and
cooked
us hamburgers with two eggs, a hot dog and then another hamburger with
only the
bun and meat. It was very good, there "ketchup" is not ketchup. Its
almost a sweet Chinese sauce, the red one, I can’t remember the name of
it
right now, and they love mayo on everything.

Hoy Lunes: Huge rainstorm!! I took a 12 second video and will try
and send it.. It lasted all night and into the morning, but by 9 it stopped. I’m
pretty sure I’ll get to go to the temple this Saturday to watch a family be sealed!
It will be my first one and in spanish but I am sooooo excited!!! I want to go
to the temple so bad. I miss the weekly visits in Argentina. We did clean the
house pretty good this morning, and then took an hour nap while we waited for
an old comp of elder rodriguez to make it to our area. He has two weeks left
and got permission to visit this area one last time. He didn’t show though so
we headed into town to buy our groceries and now I’m writing you. It rained and
is now super cold here; I’m wearing my sweater vest and a coat today. Its crazy down here but I absolutely love it!!
Other things of Paraguay:
there’s this button on the keyboardçççççççççççççççççç çool also at
night they have lots of fireflies. They are awesome! I want to catch them in a
mason jar and then run.... yes that was a song reference but for reals their
cool. Tons of people say verdad down
here, which directly translated means truth but I think people use it like ‘for
real’. Its taking some getting used to. It’s horrible, but the people down here
burn their garbage. They have no other way of doing it, which means; yes we put
our garbage in a pile to be burned too. It fills the city with smoke just about
every night and I feel bad every time we take our trash out but there is no
other way... people try and speak English to me every now and then. I think its hilarious, the accents and such.. Then
I think, man I have to sound the exact same way to them! Its funny to think about haha. I am starting
to learn some Guaraní. Its fun to speak but I have no idea how to write it. Until we meet again is pronounced ja joe toe
pat ah. I say that one a lot and the people love it!! I am hungry at nights and
normally eat a piece of bread with jelly on it. If you wanted to send peanut
butter that would be cool! I would love the extras calories but don’t know if I
need them because of my soda and alfahor intake haha.
Love you all so much!! Think and pray about you every day!
Love
